About Us
Barn Bird Kitchen celebrates the classic comfort food, fried chicken, as an ode to its essence. It was inspired by Chef Emeka’s passion for showcasing the art and expertise required to create delectable fried chicken. When patrons visit, they can anticipate authentic flavors rooted in Southern American tradition, refined over generations by African Americans with a touch of Nigerian-inspired spices, Yaji. This is a tribute to the culinary pioneers who have significantly influenced American gastronomy and are recognized worldwide.
Chef Emeka teamed up with his wife Jafrania Onugha and business partner Chukah Morah to create an unforgettable experience for Barn Bird Kitchen patrons. The interior design is described as “country chic,” blending unique antiques with contemporary high-end furniture with 10-foot walls wrapped with Nsibidi scribe and a gallery wall featuring harmonious abstract art. The contrast of black paint against a buttery white accent wall mirrors our approach to food – blending the old with the new, meticulously crafted with style. Our intimate establishment offers both dine-in and takeout options. We look forward to having our customers indulge in the unmatched pleasure of savoring freshly made fried chicken and sweet potato waffles straight from the griddle. Simply delicious!
